OVERVIEW
The Olympic Games bring people from all countries together and encourage friendship and equality. The importance of competing in the games is not winning, but to have taken part and given it your best. Tokyo, Japan, is where the 2020 Summer Olympics will take place.
SOLUTION
The final logo includes an icon of an abstract chrysanthemum, which is Japan’s national flower. The event and logistical icons are also in red circles, and the shapes that make them up are taken from, or visually similar to those in the logo. The shapes of the logo and icons break outside of their circles to create additional visual interest.
Three distinct shades of pink, green, and purple represent the different transportation methods. The visibility of these colors was tested using the CV Simulator app to ensure that people of varying color visions could easily differentiate them from one another. Each transportation method is also paired with its own icon in the transportation instructions.
